These are some pictures from a job that I've been working on the last few weeks. This couples getting ready to sell there home and approached us to see what we could update for them to maximize there profit and their chance to sell quick. We decided that a complete gut and renovation of the bathroom was top priority. We went from a vanity sink to a pedestal sink for a more spacious feel. Hexagon tile on the floor and subway tile on the shower walls and charcoal grout give a real "era" look. This home was built in the early 50's.
I also feel that crown moulding puts the topping on every room
We then decide that the kitchen was the next spot that needed updating. We put a new engineered 5" wide plank floor in. I love the wider plank floor look especialy with darker stains. I refinished their maple cabinets to have an antique country look and topped the counter off with oak butchers block. A nice bright coat of yellow paint and it's an inexpensive new kitchen. I had to go to my favorite archetectual salvage store, Second Chance, to find some heart pine baseboards already finished to match the window and door frames perfectly. Oh yeah, and some crown moulding just for good measure.
Last but not least we turned an upstairs storage area into a spacious and bright loft bedroom. When I saw the knotty pine floors all I could think was to sand them down and put a nice coat of Behr porch and floor paint on. I give's it that old cottage look. We skim coated all the walls and painted them a real light sky blue. To stay with that same cottage look we painted the stair risers.
There's still a little left to do here like paint and trim a couple bedroom's and refinish the first floor hardwood so check back soon to see the finished projects. Thanks.
